Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 2, 2026
Scope
Growbot Automator for Instagram ("Growbot," "we," "us," or "our") operates a browser extension and related websites, including https://www.growbotforfollowers.com/ (the "Service").
This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, where we keep it, and who we share it with when you install or use the Growbot Chrome extension, visit our website, or create a Growbot account. If you use the Service, you agree to these practices.
We do not collect your Instagram password. Growbot runs in your browser on instagram.com and uses your existing Instagram login. We do not ask for, receive, or store Instagram credentials.
Data we collect
On your device
The extension keeps some information in your browser so automation can run and your settings survive between sessions:
- Settings such as automation options, themes, language, and column layouts.
- Queue and list data: usernames in your processing queue, whitelist, blacklist, and related automation state.
- Identifiers: an anonymous installation GUID, a device identifier, and (if you log in) a cached session token and email address.
- Small values in Instagram page storage (for example, installation GUID and temporary session helpers) needed for the extension to work on instagram.com.
This data stays on your device unless you remove the extension, clear browser storage, or the extension sends specific items to our servers as described below.
On Growbot servers
The extension talks to our servers at growbotforfollowers.com over HTTPS. What we receive depends on how you use Growbot:
- Installation and trial data: anonymous user GUID, Instagram username, and install timestamps. The extension sends this when it starts up so we can run free trials and check subscriptions.
- Growbot account data, if you register or log in: email address, password (stored only as a hash on our servers), optional referral code, extension version, browser user-agent string, device identifier, and linked Instagram username.
- Subscription checks: user GUID and Instagram username when we verify whether a paid subscription is active.
- Automation logs, if you use a Growbot account: your Instagram username, scheduled action types and status, target usernames for completed or failed actions, and optional diagnostic details when something fails.
- Growth statistics, if you use a Growbot account: daily follower, following, and post counts plus basic public profile fields for your Instagram account (used for in-product growth charts).
- Gender filter lookups, if you turn that feature on while logged in: first names taken from public profile information, sent to our servers for lookup. We do not store these as a separate user profile.
- Technical data: IP address, request timestamps, and extension version in server logs when you call our APIs or visit our website.
Read from Instagram in your browser
To run automation, the extension reads what is visible in your Instagram session: public profile fields, follower and following lists, post metadata, and similar data. Growbot only sees what your logged-in Instagram account can already see on instagram.com. We do not pull private Instagram data that your session cannot access.
Handled by third parties
Some data is processed outside Growbot when you use the Service:
- Stripe collects and processes payment card and billing details when you buy or manage a subscription through our buy screen. We do not store full card numbers on Growbot servers.
- Google Analytics may run on our website and extension to measure site traffic. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Sentry receives server-side error reports. Those reports may include technical context such as API route, timestamps, and sometimes usernames or identifiers needed to debug a problem.
- Instagram and Meta: you use instagram.com under Meta's terms and privacy policy. Growbot only interacts with Instagram through your browser session.
How we use data
We use the information above to run and improve Growbot. That includes:
- Instagram automation (follow, unfollow, queues, filters, scheduling).
- Free-trial and paid subscription checks.
- Growbot account login, registration, and password reset.
- Running scheduled actions and logging completion or failure for subscribers.
- Growth charts and related statistics for subscribers.
- Optional features such as gender-based filtering and affiliate referral tracking.
- Customer support, abuse prevention, and bug fixes.
- Keeping the Service reliable and secure.
We do not sell your personal data, use extension data for personalized advertising, or use your data to judge creditworthiness.
How we store data
On your device
Extension settings, queues, and cached session data live in chrome.storage.local (or the equivalent extension storage API). Where needed, we also use page localStorage on instagram.com and growbotforfollowers.com.
On our servers
Data sent to Growbot is stored in databases on servers we control, currently in the United States. That covers user accounts, trial and install records, subscription linkage, daily Instagram statistics, scheduled-action records, and server logs.
Security
Traffic between the extension and our servers uses HTTPS. Growbot account passwords are hashed before storage. No transmission or storage method is perfectly secure. We use reasonable safeguards but cannot promise absolute security.
How we share data
We share information only in these cases:
- Service providers: Stripe (payments), Google Analytics (traffic and usage patterns), and Sentry (error monitoring), each only as needed for the service they provide to us. Their privacy policies govern their use of data.
- Legal and safety: when the law requires it, to protect our rights, to investigate abuse, or to protect users and the public.
- Business transfers: if Growbot is sold, merged, or reorganized, user data may move with that transaction. We will give notice where the law requires it.
We do not share, sell, or rent your personal data to data brokers, ad networks, or other third parties for their own marketing.
Instagram and Meta
Growbot is not affiliated with Instagram or Meta. The extension works inside instagram.com using your own logged-in session and your own IP address. We do not route your Instagram traffic through shared proxies. Your use of Instagram is still governed by Meta's terms and privacy policy.
Website cookies
Our website may use cookies and similar tools for sessions, preferences, security, and analytics. You can tell your browser to block cookies, but some parts of the site may stop working.
Data retention
We keep information as long as we need it to run the Service and for ordinary business purposes:
- Account data: until you ask us to delete your Growbot account or until the law says we must remove it.
- Trial and install records: as long as needed to enforce trial limits and tie subscriptions to installs.
- Daily statistics and action logs: for chart history, scheduling, and support troubleshooting.
- Server logs: for a limited time for security and debugging.
Your choices and rights
- Local data: uninstall the extension or clear browser and extension storage to remove data stored on your device.
- Account deletion and data requests: email growbotautomator@gmail.com to ask us to delete your Growbot account or other personal data we hold. We will reply within a reasonable time.
- Optional account: much of the automation works without a Growbot account. An account adds server sync, scheduling, and growth charts as described above.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, or export your data. Contact us to use those rights.
Children's privacy
The Service is not meant for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you think a child gave us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
Growbot Automator for Instagram's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We collect and use user data only to provide and improve the Instagram automation features described on our Chrome Web Store listing. We do not sell user data, use it for personalized advertising, or transfer it except as described in this policy.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and change the effective date above. For important changes, we may also post a notice on the website or email you. If you keep using the Service after an update takes effect, that counts as acceptance of the revised policy.
