How to filter Instagram accounts before following

Filters let you narrow your queue to accounts that match your criteria, so Growbot only follows people who are likely to follow you back.

Why

Not every account is worth following. Filters let you target accounts that fit your audience, so Growbot only follows people who are likely to follow you back or who match the type of account you want to engage with. You can filter by follower count, follow ratio, account type, bio content, and more.

How to use it

  1. Open the Account Filters panel in Growbot.
  2. Set slider ranges for the metrics you care about:
    • Followers: minimum and maximum follower count.
    • Following: minimum and maximum following count.
    • Follow Ratio: the ratio of followers to following. A value of 1.0 means equal followers and following. A value of 2.0 means twice as many followers as following. Values above 2.0 usually indicate popular or influential accounts.
    • Last Posted (days ago): skip accounts that have not posted recently. Note: this filter does not apply to private accounts because Growbot cannot see when they last posted.
  3. Toggle account type filters:
    • Private Accounts or Public Accounts.
    • Verified Accounts or Non-Verified Accounts.
    • Business Accounts or Non-Business Accounts.
  4. Use text filters to match bio content:
    • Bio Has Text: only include accounts whose bio contains this text.
    • Bio Doesn't Have Text: exclude accounts whose bio contains this text.
    • Link in Bio Has and Link in Bio Doesn't Have: filter by the URL in their bio.
  5. Set relationship filters (these only apply when following, not unfollowing):
    • Follows Me or Doesn't Follow Me.
    • Followed by Me or Not Followed by Me.
  6. Click Apply Filters to filter your loaded queue right now. Accounts that do not match are removed from the queue.
  7. To filter automatically during processing instead, go to Settings and check Apply Filters Automatically While Following. Growbot checks each account against your filters before taking action, without removing non-matching accounts from the queue.

Tips

  • If Growbot seems to skip everyone during unfollowing, check your filters. Some filters only apply when following and are ignored during unfollows, but others may cause unexpected skips.
  • Start with wide filter ranges and tighten them as you learn what works for your niche.
  • The Follow Ratio filter is useful for finding engaged users. Accounts with a ratio between 0.5 and 2.0 tend to be regular users who follow back, not celebrities or spam accounts.
  • Click Reset Filters to clear all filter settings and start over.
